Parliament nod to end J&K special status, bifurcate state

New Delhi, Aug 6 (TIWN) In a historic development, Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday lost its special status and was bifurcated, as Parliament approved a resolution ending applicability of Article 370 of the Constitution to the state and passed a bill to create two Union Territories - Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.
Replying to the debate on Article 370, Home Minister Amit Shah said that the history will decide if the decision to repealing special status ti Jammu and Kashmir is right or wrong. The resolution on Article 370 was passed with 351 members voting in its favour, and 72 against it, while one member abstained from voting.
