Kolkata, June 22 (TIWN) Days after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee instructed party leaders to return to the public the cut money they took from them, angry local residents held demonstrations outside residences of several Trinamool Congress public representatives demanding they give back the amount they took for reaching government schemes to them.
In Birbhum district, such demonstrations were staged in Bolpur, Suri and Saithia. The Trinamool leaders, who faced the brunt of the heat from the locals, denied he charges an instead accused the BJP of hatching conspiracy to "discredit" their party. In Hooghly district, flexes were put up at Chandannagar alleging a former Trinamool councillor had taken commission from them for reaching government services. Violence broke out in East Burdwan district''s Jharul gram panchayat as locals hurled bricks at the residence of a Trinamool leader accusing him of misappropriating money earmarked for government schemes.
