India's first 'disco-king' Bappi Lahiri passes away at 69

Mumbai, Feb 16 (TIWN) Veteran singer-composer Alokesh alias Bappi Lahiri - nephew of the legendary trio of late Ashok Kumar, Kishore Kumar and Anoop Kumar - passed away around midnight due to multiple health issues, his family said here on Wednesday.

Bollywood celebrities and fans all around the world have taken to their social media handles to pay rich tributes. A user wrote, ''Shocked! The true king of pop. Bappi daa there was and will never be anyone like you. Your music will always be alive in our hearts. Omm Shanti. RIP #BappiLahiri ????????.'' Another one tweeted, ''Life is very unpredictable. It's only few weeks ago I have seen Bappi da in Bigg Boss. He was smiling and happy and now this news. Rest in peace Legend. You will always be remembered as our Disco King #BappiLahiri ????????''.
