New Delhi, Aug 22 (TIWN) As many as 483 infrastructure projects have reported a cost overrun of Rs 4.43 lakh crore till August 1, 2021.
The total original cost of implementation of the 1,781 projects was Rs 22,82,160.40 crore and their anticipated completion cost is likely to be Rs 27,25,408.00 crore, which reflects overall cost overruns of Rs 4,43,247.60 crore (19.42 per cent of original cost), the report noted.
The expenditure incurred on these projects till July 2021 is Rs 13,22,515.87 crore, which is 48.53 per cent of the anticipated cost of the projects.
"Out of the 1,781 projects, 13 projects are ahead of schedule, 263 are on schedule, 504 are delayed, 483 projects reported cost overrun and 199 projects reported both time and cost overrun with respect to their original project implementation schedules," it said.
However, it added that the number of delayed projects decreased to 369 if delay is calculated on the basis of the latest schedule of completion. Further, for 1,001 projects neither the year of commissioning nor the tentative gestation period has been reported.
