AGARTALA, May 13 (TIWN): A press conference was organized by the All Tripura Merchant Association today. The association has expressed concern over the soaring prices of essential commodities in the state reportedly taking undue advantage of the covid-19 pandemic.
According to ATMA, the shopkeepers are not maintaining any price list for items including consumer goods. Through the press meet, the association urged the shopkeepers to comply with the government orders. It further said that people reeling under the pandemic will be hard hit by the whimsical price hike. He warned the traders against the gravy train in the backdrop of the pandemic.
Meanwhile, the Subdivisional magistrate of the North district along with the food department carried out an administrative drive against Illegal Price Hikes, Black-Marketing of Essential Commodities, and confiscated expired items from several shops.
