Seoul/New Delhi, (July 12) As anti-China sentiments grow in India after the ban on 59 apps and a public boycott of Chinese-made goods, Samsung Electronics is expected to increase its presence in the Indian smartphone market, industry analysts have said.
Sinophobia is growing in India with a public boycott of Chinese-made goods following the deaths of 20 Indian soldiers in last month's border clash between the two nuclear-armed neighbors. Analysts said Samsung, South Korea's top electronics firm, is likely to benefit from anti-China sentiment in India, especially in the smartphone market where Chinese players have dominated. "Shipments of consumer goods that are against public sentiment will face difficulties," said Lee Chang-min, an analyst at KB Securities. "As Chinese smartphone makers are expected to suffer sales decline in India, Samsung is expected to take advantage of it."
