New Delhi, Sep 19 (TIWN) The key Indian equity indices slumped over 1 per cent on Thursday with the BSE Sensex closing 470 points lower, owing to heavy selling in oil, metal and IT stocks amidst mixed global cues.
Indian markets fell sharply today, with banking, metal and IT stocks leading the decline. The Sensex fell 470 points to settle at 36,093 while Nifty settled at 10706. Among the banking stocks, ICICI Bank, Yes Bank and IndusInd Bank led the losses. Despite the cool-off in global oil prices, Indian markets struggled as foreign investors continue to remain net sellers. The sentiment also remained muted over growth concerns. Foreign investors sold Indian equities worth ₹959 crore on Wednesday.
