KAMALPUR, June 22 (TIWN): The negotiation process in bidding for different works came under scanner at Ambassa. And it happened as the PWD(R&B) helped the negotiation process helping some contractors to pocket unlawful huge profit.
According to information, recently, the Ambassa Division invited tenders for three works with a total value of 71, 13, 913 rupees. All the three works were about the maintenance of roads. And after the invitation of the bids, the contractors got into negotiation and only seven persons dropped their bids. Each of them gave a high rate of above percentage.
And among those, the lowest bidder would get the work. Now, it got speculated that, the lower bidder would put not less than 30% above rate. Now, such works often got the below rates. As a result of the abnormal higher rate, the contractor would pocket a huge profit from which the officials would also get their share.
But, in the process, the maximum number of contractors who chose the path as a means of livelihood remained deprived. And the works would fail to ensure quality and standards.
