SABROOM, June 12 (TIWN): Heavy pre-monsoon shower unleashed by storms has caused severe damages Sabroom in past 24 hours. Power supply and telecommunication services have been disrupted in many areas as poles were uprooted , bridges collapsed and wires were snapped in hail-storm.
Both Tripura State Electricity Corporation Ltd (TSECL) and BSNL claimed that they have been working on war-footing to restore the service. Besides, water supply and road connectivity was also disrupted. Many houses collapsed and fell on them due to heavy downpour at Sabroom in South Tripura.
The rain inundated low-laying areas of rural areas and agricultural fields of the state. Meteorological forecast predicted moderate to heavy shower in next 24 hours across South Tripura. South Tripura remained cut off by road due to flash flood in several places.
Hundreds of vehicles, including loaded trucks, are stranded on National Highway 44.Meanwhile, normal life was out of gear in southern most town of Tripura, Sabroom , Santirbazar and Belonia towns due to the cyclonic storm coupled with heavy rainfall for past four days.
