AGARTALA, April 13 (TIWN) : The festive mood has been replaced with Earthquake panic stricken here in Tripura when 6.9 Richter scale earth quake hit NE states including Tripura.
When people here in Tripura were in full of joyous mood then at 7.20 pm on the evening of Chaitra Sankranti people panicked after their homes were shook off with the sudden arrival of Earthquake.
It’s worthy to mention here that this is 3rd time in Tripura in the year 2016 that Earthquake warnings arrived the people here.
India's northeastern states and Bangladesh shook on Wednesday evening after a 6.8 magnitude earthquake hit Myanmar, officials said.
The tremors were felt at 7.25 p.m. with its epicentre in the Myanmar-India border region, said an official of the Regional Seismological Centre in Shillong.
Seven of the northeastern states -- Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur -- are considered by seismologists as the sixth major earthquake-prone belt in the world.
