KAMALPUR, Dec 27 (TIWN): A mini truck bearing number TR-01-K-16122 slipped into the deep valley at Darlongbasti on Halhali-Fatikroy NEC road near Saikarbari last evening around 6 pm. Around midnight, the helper of the truck namely Mintu Malakar (28) got recovered from under the heap in very serious condition. However, the truck left at the spot and yet to be recovered.
According to the police, last afternoon the truck taking the load of 160 rice bags of 50kg each started its journey from Kumarghat towards Halhali through the Halhali-Fatikroy NEC road. As the truck reached at Darlongbasti, the driver lost control. The truck dipped into the valley nearly 150 feet. Receiving the news, the police from Kamalpur police station reached the spot immediately. It got found that, the helper of the truck Mintu Malakar remained under the heap. Then the police called for assistance and with the help from a contractor, the helper got rescued around midnight.
Still, the truck remained there in the valley. Efforts got continued to take up the truck from the valley. But the local people opined that, it would cost a heavy planning and equipments to take out the truck. However, according to the primary investigation, it got reported that, the accident happened due to the intoxication of the driver.
