AGARTALA, Sep 23 (TIWM): Ahead of the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations, the Tripura government has announced increased festival advances and grants for state government employees and workers across several categories for the 2026–27 financial year.

Under the new provisions, eligible Group-C and Group-D employees, among others, will be able to avail themselves of a festival advance of up to Rs. 20,000. Anganwadi workers and Home Guards will receive an advance of Rs. 5,000, while ASHA workers will be eligible for Rs. 2,000. The measures are expected to benefit around one lakh workers.

The government has also increased the festival grant by ?300 compared with last year. The grant for Group-C, Group-D, DRW employees and pensioners has been raised from Rs. 2,100 to Rs. 2,400.

For Anganwadi workers, Home Guards, SPOs and certain other categories, the festival grant has been fixed at Rs.2,610.

According to the announced figures, the government will incur an estimated expenditure of Rs. 47.16 crore towards the festival grant. Around 1,48,501 employees are expected to benefit, along with approximately 85,916 pensioners and family pensioners.

The festival advance scheme is expected to require an additional expenditure of around Rs.183.77 crore.

The announcements come ahead of Durga Puja, providing financial support to government employees, workers and pensioners during the festive season.
