AGARTALA, Feb 14 (TIWN): In another theft incident, Bamutia area’s popular jewelry shop was looted by thieves.

According to the shopkeeper along with silver jewelry, cash rupees were also taken by the thieves’ gang.

The daring burglary at Kali Bazar under the Bamutia Police Outpost has triggered widespread concern among traders and local residents.

According to reports, a gang of thieves allegedly cut through the tin roof of a jewellery shop during the night hours and entered the premises despite the presence of a market night guard. The thieves reportedly escaped with around 80 tola of silver ornaments along with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The incident came to light early in the morning when shop owner Amrit Debnath arrived at the shop and found signs of the break-in. The damaged roof and missing valuables immediately alerted him to the theft.

The incident has once again raised questions over night-time security arrangements in the market. Local traders and residents have expressed anger over the alleged lack of effective surveillance and questioned the role of the market guards who were reportedly on duty during the night.

The incident has created fresh concerns among business owners in the area, with traders demanding stronger night patrols and improved security measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
