AGARTALA, Oct 12 (TIWN): The TSF, a student body, has announced Thursday to launch protests statewide on February 14 seeking Roman script for Kokborok language.
The TSF said that whether it’s BJP or opposition nobody – none of their leaders are raising the issue seriously — led TSF to decide about the protest movement.
TSF stated that in total 10 locations were set for protests.
Kokborok language speakers are seeking a script for their language, but the state is unable to decide due to debates over it for a long. Whereas ruling BJP seeks Debanagari script should be adapted for it, other regional parties backed by tribal communities statewide have been demanding only Roman script for Kokborok.
The state witnessed several protests centering this issue and demand for Roman script is a long pending one.
