AGARTALA, Jan 13 (TIWN): Tripura High Court recently ordered Tripura Govt to clear the payments of the petitioners, from the first day of their joining, discarding the fixed pay system. Some government employees who appealed against the 5 years fixed pay system — should be the first beneficiary of the verdict. But if this verdict is implemented for the petitioners, then it will be effective for all employees at a certain point, who were subjected to 5 years fixed pay.

Tripura Govt with Ministers and Secretaries are now thoroughly having discussion about this issue, Chief Minister Manik Saha told media.

Saha said that all the sides are being seen so that a conclusion can come. At one point he blamed the previous Left Front Govt for starting this fixed pay system but he also acknowledged that “there might be some reasons behind it.”

CM also expressed concerns over Tripura’s limited resources saying, “Nothing can be suddenly implemented, because our resource is limited.”

Tripura High Court division bench chaired by Chief Justice Ramachandra Rao and Justice Biswajit Patil on Thursday in a landmark verdict scrapped a single bench judgement of justice Arindam Lodh which dismissed the petition of fixed pay teachers to get regular scales. In this new verdict, the High Court ordered the state government to clear the pending regular pays of the employees from the date of their joining. The verdict said, “the benefit of regular pay and other service benefits be given to each of them notionally from the date of their joining their service initially as per appointment orders issued to them by respondents, but actual financial benefits (arrears) shall be paid for period 3 years prior to the dates of filing of the respective Writ Petitions with interest at 9% p.a. till date of actual payment which shall not be more than 3 months from today.”

Advocate Purushottom Roy Barman said this judgement will change the future pay structures."It should be implemented for all," said Barman. "We hope everyone gets it soon. If not, then they have to move to court again."
