AGARTALA, May 30 (TIWN): In the 38-mile Shiv Mandir area under the Teliamura subdivision of Khowai district, the Mungiakami police and TSR forces recovered 14,400 bottles of Phensydil from a tripper car (A5 01 DC 1315) during vehicle check.

Mungiakami police sub-inspector Ranjit Das said like every day, today also they were checking the vehicles when the tripper car was stopped suspiciously by the police at the checkpoint during which they recovered this large number of contraband items.

The driver, Manik Sarkar, a resident of Marachhara, Ranirbazar, was detained and the car was taken to the Mungiakami PS.

The market value of the seized Phensidyl bottles is about Rs. 26,78,400, said the OC.

However, the incident took place within 24 hours, after a huge quantity of cannabis was seized by Kalyanpur police in the same sub-division yesterday.

The rampant drug trade continuing in our state is leading the youth to the path of destruction.
