AGARTALA, Oct 9 (TIWN): 6 days ahead of Durga Puja, Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) led hawkers and footpath cleaning drive has created a chaos in Sakuntala road on Tuesday.
Since the morning AMC had started the drive and with the removal of hawkers, the corporation also attempted to remove the footpath occupying by the shop-keepers.
The whole area is however have been put into No-Entry area since 3 days.
The irritated shop-keepers came out and asked the police and AMC officials why the bikes and vehicles amid No-Entry are kept here and if bikes can stay why shop-keepers can not keep their items on road.
With all these, AMC's work was disrupted heavily but the businessmen said, "Already due to lack of business till 4 days ago also less customers gathered here and when since few days customers are coming as Durga Puja is on 15th October, now AMC started unnecessary drive to kill business of the festival.
AMC's drive was suspended till the news publication, but earlier Chief Minister Biplab Deb said, those who will stop Govt work "should be arrested".
Durga puja markets are gloom across the state, affected the business here in capital city too.
