AGARTALA, Jan 21 (TIWN): State BJP has condoled the death of veteran CPI-M leader Khagen Das, who died today early morning in heart attack at Kolkata.

"Khagen Das was a great diplomat of state Tripura, with visionary mindset. BJP prays for his soul may rest in peace", BJP said in a press release.

CPI-M's senior leader Khagen Das was given last adieu at Kolkata CPI-M Party Office in the presence Tripura CM Manik Sarkar.

On the 3rd day of the central committee meeting, the CPI-M  leader from Tripura has passed away.

Praksh Karat, Biman Basu, Manik Sarkar, Surya Kanta Mishra, Pinarayi Vijayan along with other politburos paid floral tributes to Khagen Das.

Das died in heart-attack during his Koklata visit for Central Committee meeting. Khagen Das was also attending the central committee meeting of CPI-M and at Tripura Bhawan he took his last breath.

Khagen Das was a member of the 14th Lok Sabha of India. He represents the Tripura West constituency of Tripura and, one of the senior most members of the Communist Party of India.
