MP Jiten writes to Union Finance Minister demanding release of outstanding pending arrears for SC, ST students

AGARTALA, Aug 11 (TIWN): Tripura CPI-M MP Jitendra Choudhury has written a letter to Piyush Goyal, Finance Minister of the Centre asking to release total outstanding and pending amount of Rs. 3.783.70 crore towards PMS for SC students after releasing 2 installments against (Rs.1444.83 crores & Rs.4596.08 crore) against the total pending areas of Rs. 9824.51 crores for ST students urgently before the new admission takes place through Ministry of social justice and empowerment.In the letter, Jiten Chaudhury told the Minister, according to Parliament discussion and starred and unstarred questions raised by several MPs to know that, more than 56 lakhs of SC & ST students across the country are severely affected by most affected issues.“I request you to take positive steps towards ensuring that total outstanding pending arrears in the released urgently and also mechanisms are put in place for affective implementation of this post metric scholarship schemes for SCs, STs in the country”, MP told the Minister. Goyal is the current Minister of Finance, Railways, Coal and Corporate Affairs in the Government of India. BJP Govt's delay in releasing funds hampering delay in implementing various schemes.

The issues have been raised by the MP are :

  1. Total outstanding pending amount is Rs. 3,783.70 towards post metric school for SC students after releasing the two installments (Rs.1444.83 crores & Rs.4596.08 crore) ) against the total pending areas of Rs. 9824.51 crores till 2018-19 by Finance Ministry including current year allocation of Rs. 3,000,00 crores
  2. Similarly the outstanding pending amount towards ST students is Rs. 716.25 crores as on 31.01.2018, but unfortunately the releasing of the fund to the concerned nodal Ministry, MoTA is also uncertain.
