AGARTALA, Nov 20 (TIWN): Famously known as former bus-conductor, Tripura Transport Minister Manik Dey has finally paralyzed the TRTC bus services under his 5 years of Transport Minister which earlier used to serve people at very minimum cost. Due to ‘no maintenance’ of those buses, the TRTC service has been fully stopped, which even before 5 years were functioning smoothly. Instead of 30 rupees fare, TRTC took 15 rupees, giving much relaxation to the passengers. But now due to lack of TRTC service, passengers are bound to travel in private buses at the triple cost. TIWN visited the TRTC stand on Monday after much complaints received by the passengers, but it was seen that deplorable shape of TRTC has left almost all the vehicles non-functioning. Asking the drivers, they said State Govt is not helping in maintenance of the buses. However, one bus driver was trying to bring one of those buses under functioning, but its break had damaged immediately.
Only 2 TRTC buses are working one for the GB hospital and another is for the jail and rest of the others are left damaged.
This is the same Transport Minister who was unwilling to credit Modi-Govt for Rajdhani Express. After Rajdhani’s arrival Manik Dey told TIWN, “Rajdhani was CPI-M Govt's demand which even after promising by the former Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu it took above 1 year to reach here".
Now what will the Minister say when his own TRTCs are left non-functional since years ? For long journeys public hardly see the TRTC now a days across Tripura.
