AGARTALA, Aug 13 (TIWN): More than 9000 flood victims have been reported from various relief camps of the state with maximum are from West Tripura, said Revenue Minister Badal Choudhury in a press meet. The Chief Minister after visiting the flood affected areas at Agartala formed a committee at Civil Secretariat to monitor the situations all over the flood victimized areas. However, opposition leader of BJP Biplab Deb has strongly criticized the state govt for the miserable shapes of the relief camps. “I have visited the camps today. Nothing has provided to the flood victims from drinking water to proper food management”, said Biplab to media. Above 2000 BJP workers have claimed to be in action to tackle the emergency situation.

The Bangladesh border lined areas of Tripura have gripped by heavy flows of flood water without any sign of development from water-logging at chest level. At few places as Baldakhal, Kalakhal the water level has raised up to the roof of the houses led above 7000 flood refugees.

However, it has been the record-level rain in last 5 years that can’t be denied with 146.6mm of rainfall on yesterday. As per weather dept. the chances of more heavy rains are high for 2 days. Talking to Tripura Urban Development Minister Manik Dey, he mentioned that the border areas especially Katakhal and Baldakhal areas are the highest sufferers. “Common people have helped a lot in the emergency situation. Without everyone’s cooperation the situation would turn more pathehtic”, Manik Dey told TIWN. Asking about the oppositions allegation, Dey said, “All political party should jump in the crisis situation for now. Why this crisis situation is happening, whose fault lets discuss it later”. “The rain led flood has affected Bangladesh border areas and via Rajghat the water even from Bangladesh is entering”, The Minister said.

On Friday  latenight Tripura Revenue Minister Badal Choudhury, Urban Development Minister Manik Dey Mayor Parfullajit Sinha, DGP A K Sukla, DM Millind Ramteke have visited the flood affected areas at Agartala. A record level rain has been experienced from Thursday late-night to Friday led above thousand families affected due to river bank's erosion.

Three helplines have been announced: 1077 under West DM, 1070 State Govt, 2416045 under Civil Secretariat.

The river bank areas are crossing over danger zones with various parts of the National Highway are on the verges of damage. One person has died after he was electrocuted while walking on road.

At Agartala including Dasami Ghat and Chandrapur total 2 barrages have been collapsed.
