AGARTALA, June 19 (TIWN): The city life has turned shitty life in Agartala following a continuous rain but tension has increased with the water level is going up day by day. If it is continues like this, then the whole city may get paralyzed. But in comparison, the problem is getting much more critical this year than the last year as the monsoon yet to begin fully and the city condition is turning miserable. State Govt controlled Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) failed to keep drainage systems operational to bring respite from street-floodings after every rain. Thus, state’s Capital city has gone under water after a consistent rain since one day, disrupting the normal lives here, especially in office hours. The city lives turned irritating with the drain and rain water mixed together. However, this problem is nothing new for Agartala, but every monsoon sees such water-logging conditions throughout the year.

During the budget counter speech AMC Mayor Prafullajit Sinha talked about various projects ongoing and also completed project among which he claimed about the almost completion of JNNURM’s (Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission) Rs. 102.22 crores, which was sanctioned for Storm Water Drainage system.

But in reality there is no sign of proper drainage yet flowing in Agartala city. With a few splash of rain the city drowns into water and water logging till waist, is very common for Agartala City.
