AGARTALA, April 10 (TIWN): 9th JanAushadhi Generic Medicine Counter of Tripura has been inaugurated by State Minister for Co-operation & Fisheries Shri Khagendra Jamatia at the Mohanpur CHC on Monday.
The store is going to be run by Mohanpur Primary Marketing Co-Op. Society Ltd. with help from Tripura Markfed & State Health & Family Welfare Department.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Yojana (PMJAY) scheme, total 2.5 lakhs financial assistance is provided to open such stores and Jan Aushadhi Generic Medicines are supplied by the Bureau of Pharma PSUs of India (BPPI).
Minister Khagendra Jamatia has said that state govt has plans to open more such counters in all 23 subdivisions of Tripura in a phase wise manner so that out of pocket expenditures of patients to buy medicines can be reduced by providing them low cost generic medicines which are effective as effective as branded medicines.
In the inauguration program, apart from Minister Khagendra Jamatia, MLA P Debbarma was also present who appreciated this pro people effort by the State Govt.
Dr K Chakraborty, Asst Professor of AGMC has also delivered a short speech regarding cost effectiveness of Jan Aushadhi Generic Medicines. Managing Director of Tripura Markfed P. K. Debbarma said that Markfed plans to start two more Jan Aushadhi Generic Medicine Counters at the Kailashahar & Dharmanagar District Hospitals very soon.
Incharge of Mohanpur CHC, Dr A Chakma also expressed happiness regarding opening of Generic Medicine Counter at Mohanpur CHC and said that timely and adequate supplies of necessary common medicines should be ensured in the said counter. Many local peoples were seen buying some generic medicine items soon after inauguration of the counter.
