AGARTALA, April 8 (TIWN): Traditional Chaitra fair is going in smoothway as amidst high temperature and customers thronged to buy dresses and other items ahead of Bengali New Year.
Asking a lady named Bina Debnath buying clothes, she told TIWN at Sakuntala market that the hot temperature is better than rain.
'As anytime rain can arrive, so taking the chance of clear sky I'm buying items from here. If weather goes well, I will come tomorrow again', said Bina Debnath.
However, Bengalis celebrates their New Year or Polia Baishak with lots great enthusiasm. People greet their family members, relatives and friends and close once.
Markets and stores wait for this time of the year by offering discounts as Chaitra sale. This is kind of year end clearance sale for local shop owners.
Small shopkeepers and whole sellers offered discounts on every purchase in this season. In the marriage seasons, traders of Hawkers Corner have seen good sales.
Chaitra sale also observes huge traffic jam at the Shakuntala market area and Howkers corner. It takes long time to cross the Kaman Chowmuhani-Post Office Chowmuhani stretch during the sale hour that usually is a minute ride.
City Police have been cracking on all forms of illegal parking on the road. Additional Policemen were also deployed at the spot to maintain the crowd.
At the major markets of the capital everything from silk to cotton sarees, dress materials, kidswear etc are available at the Chaitra Market.
Not to speak about trendy kurtis, chappals and other fashion jewellery at dart cheap rate. People can also go for some amazing and refreshing designs in footwear at very low rate.
People from various parts of the capital throng in to the sale of Chaitra, to find out some affordable and suitable items to take it to their home.
The state where hit with price hike in every item including vegetables and other commodities, most of the common mass prefers to shop during the Chaitra sale. Mostly poor people waits for the day on which they can afford new cloths and other necessary items which they can use on the occasion of Bengali new year.
This year on April 14 year 1424 will begin as per Bengali calendar.
