AGARTALA, March 29 (TIWN): Whereas state Tripura is undergoing various tensions as unemployment, joblessness, 10,323 teachers’ uncertain futures, but Tripura Chief Minister is busy to blame the BJP led central govt regarding MGNREGA fund slashing. CM’s tension for MGNREGA fund pretends that Tripura Govt has brought revolution of development with MGNREGA funds.

Eventhough it is clearly written that if utilization certificate is not shown, then further funds would not be sanctioned by the central govt. for any state or United Territory in coming days, but instead of focusing to finish the unfinished works, Tripura CPI-M govt’s illogical demands for funds continues. In a cabinet meeting held on Tuesday, Manik Sarkar has detected his 3 MPs along with RD minister Naresh Jamatia to raise the MGNREGA fund issue at New Delhi and talk against the continuous slashing of funds. However, MP Jiten Chowdhury who is now a days busy to seek more power for ADC tuning with INPT, Sarkar asked him to do some hardworks so that MGREGA issues may be sorted out.

However, on March 27 Central Govt issued a notice about releasing of funds for 1st Tranche of Central share under MGNREGA for 2017-18 in two installments. In the notification it was clearly mentioned that there will be certain mandatory rules to be followed before receiving the fund that hit CPI-M govt like a tornado.

Neither following any the thumb-rules given by Centre, Tripura Govt has cleared the wage nor district-wise works were finished to be recorded. It has also said to settle the accounts under MGNREGA before receiving the fund. Most importantly Centre  also notified to complete submission of utilization certificate should be done, whereas Tripura’s actual development is very poor with 10.9 % update of MGNREGA.

In this condition CM and his other Ministers asked the 3 MPs to talk to the central govt regarding this issue.

Corruption in Tripura under MGNREGA and other scheme including PMAY have hit the development of the state. The Ministers, MPs are now busy with election campaigning rather than office works. In this situation RD Dept at Central has created new problem as allegedly 40 % of MGNREGA work was not done in 2016-17 across rural Tripura.

After the cabinet meeting even though Bhanulal Saha said that there will be a talk regarding this issues with Centre soon, but how far the Govt can save is face it’s to be seen.
