AGARTALA, Feb 27 (TIWN): Food theft from ration shops and illegal selling of foods in the market continue in Tripura as digitization is getting delayed day after day. But instead of hurrying up the digitization, Tripura CM Manik Sarkar said in the Assembly that the new ration shops in Tripura to remain shut down due to digitization. However, for every temporary complex situations CPI-M Govt is busy to blame the Centre for its modern way of transaction and transparent data exchange. But in case of ration shop, digitization will not only make the system transparent, but it will drastically bring down the food theft across state. Survey says that digitization seen reducing food theft in India’s PDS system. When a person goes to the ration store, s/he only receive enough to feed half for his family due to food crisis.

The shop keeper tell the customer that he came too late and all the food is gone, but everyone around here knows it’s being sold in markets for profit. As per the source, Government aims to computerise the PDS sector to help check pilferages and plug leakages by installing electronic Point of Sale (ePoS) devices at all fair price shops across the country by March 2017.Apart from this, Tripura ration shops suffer from many other problems too.

Despite the food security scheme ensuring access to “quality food at affordable prices”, there is no better days for Tripura poor people. The Ministers of Tripura often visits various subdivisions to check the ongoing project works quality and boost about State Govt's various developmental works.

But Tripura Food, Civil supplies and Consumers  Minister Bhanulal Saha should give a sudden visit to the ration shops of Tripura to check the quality of food grains providing there.  Complaints have raised against the ration shop dealers for selling very poor qualities rice grains to the BPL families.
