AGARTALA, Dec 2 (TIWN): A 6 members team on Friday visits Bishalgarh PHC to find out the gaps in the medical care which are available in that subdivision. Via a notification it was declared that the 6 members team will visit the mentioned place for infrastructure purchasing issues, but sources said that the complaint raised about poor health service in Tripura's various rural based hospitals and the centre asked the report on it/ However, a report will be made immediately after the visit under National Health Mission Scheme (NHM), which will also helpful for further allowance of infrastructure in that PHC.

The 6 members team includes Dr. Samarjit Das, Add Director of Family Welfare & P.M. , Joydeep Chakraborty, MO, AYUSH, NHM, Mina Bhowmik, Incharge Vice Principal Dr. BRAM Nursing school, Supratim Biswas, Consultant / Community mobilization, Tripura, Haradhan Ch. Kar, Farmacist Director of Health Services, Dinesh Reang, Accountant Directorate of Health Service and other officials.

As per the central guidelines a typical Primary Health Centre covers a population of 20,000 in hilly, tribal, or difficult areas and 30,000 populations in plain areas with 6 indoor/observation beds.

It acts as a referral unit for 6 Sub-Centres and refer out cases to CHC (30 bedded hospital) and higher order public hospitals located at sub-district and district level. However, as the population density in the country is not uniform, the number of PHCs would depend upon the case load.

It’s also said in the guidelines that PHCs should become a 24 hour facility with nursing facilities.

OPD services: A total of 6 hours of OPD services out of which 4 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon for six days in a week.

24 hours emergency services: appropriate management of injuries and accident, First Aid, stitching of wounds, incision and drainage of abscess, stabilisation of the condition of the patient before referral, Dog bite/snake bite/scorpion bite cases, and other emergency conditions. These services will be provided primarily by the nursing staff.

Diagnosis of Malaria cases, microscopic confirmation and treatment are distant dream for the villagers.

However, sources said that many complaints raised against Tripura Health service which initiated the central govt to take reports on it. However, now the Health Dept. is under huge trouble to fill up the gaps with basic primary health service.
