Modi’s Blessing-Tsunami continues in Tripura :  In Northeast, Indian Railways commissioned about 900 km of Broad Gauge in last 2 years, gifts Tripura with 4 Express trains

AGARTALA, Oct 28 (TIWN): Modi Govt’s blessing on Northeast India continues as with a surprise more 2 express trains to be launched in Tripura after it got Tripura Sundari Express Train & Kanchanjunga Express train. This will include a weekly train between Guwahati and Agartala and a weekly train in the Dibrugarh-Agartala route. Via a press release, NF Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Pranav Jyoti Sharma said that the 3 special trains (in full NE) would run for four months starting November 12.The 05651 Guwahati-Agartala weekly special train is scheduled to leave from Guwahati every Saturday at 04:45 PM and arrive at Agartala at 10:45 AM on every Sunday during these four months. The train, on its return journey, would leave Agartala every Sunday at 3 PM and touch Guwahati railway station at 09:05 AM on Monday. The train that would have one AC 2-tier, three AC 3-tier, fourteen sleeper class, two general 2nd class accommodations apart from luggage cum parcel vans, would have stoppages at Chaparmukh, Hojai, Lumding, Maibang, New Haflong, Badarpur, Karimganj, Dharmanagar, Kumarghar, Ambasa and Teliamura stations.

The Agartala-Guwahati train is scheduled to take about 18 hrs to cover the 577 km distance. Services from Guwahati would start from November 12 while the special train service would start from Agartala on November 13.The 05944 Dibrugarh-Agartala weekly special train is slated to leave Dibrugarh every Sunday at 10:30 PM and reach Agartala railway station at 7 PM on Monday. The train would leave Agartala every Monday at 10 PM in return journey and reach Dibrugarh at 7:20 PM on Tuesday. The train that would have one AC 2-tier, two AC 3-tier, eight sleeper class, six general 2nd class accommodations apart from luggage cum parcel vans, would stop at Sibsagar Town, Simaluguri, Mariani, Sarupathar, Dimapur, Diphu, Lumding, Maibang, New Haflong, Badarpur, Karimganj, Dharmanagar, Kumarghar, Ambasa and Teliamura stations. The services in Dibrugarh-Agartala route is slated to start from November 20; the return journey is scheduled to commence on November 21.

Suresh Prabhu during Tripura’s 1st express train inauguration said, “I never saw such a crowd in my life in such a programme !”. “It’s a moment of proud, as now nobody can say that Delhi is far away as Tripura Sundari Train has decreased the distance”, said Suresh Prabhu. However, the action for Modi Govt. specially for North east region will not be ended here. This is just the beginning, said Prabhu. “Along with Tripura Sundari Express many express trains will come in Tripura soon. Now his words have been proven as true.

He further added,  “When the whole state will be benefited with railway why the Northeast would be lagged behind?”, said Prabhu. He also said, “In 2- 3 years, the budget has been increased a lot. In 2014-15 it was 5,489 crores, in 2015-16 it was 6,100 crores, in 2016-17 the target will be atleats Rs. 7,000 crores.

However, recently  Rail Development Authority (RDA) disclosed that large amounts of momentary resources are being earmarked for funding developmental projects in NER. The Present Govt has allocated a total of INR53,706 (USD8.9 billion) for the FY 2014-2015 for the largely underdeveloped regions of North-east India. RDA also disclosed that the total investment for NE is more than the loan taken by India from banks.
