AGARTALA, Aug 26 (TIWN): Amidst the global threat of ISIS and other Bangladesh based terrorist groups like JMB, HUJI which are expanding their network in the State through Tripura's Sonamura, Kailashahar, Belonia and other red alert areas have sparked off huge panic in Tripura & NE region. Apart from Pakistan’s ISI operatives, JMB , the Islamic State (IS) jihadist group aims to expand its operations in Bangladesh to boost its image among local radicals.It is to be mentioned that the use of the Internet for terrorist purposes is a rapidly growing phenomenon, requiring a proactive and coordinated response from decision makers of the countries.

 It is important to mention that, Cyber-security, Counter-Terrorism in Cyberspace is not the domain of traditional security officials but it should be 100% driven and run by top-notch technical experts on Cyber Security, Network Communication Engineering professionals. 

Sensing the intensity of expansion of terrorism through Internet, Tripura Infoway has come up with the 3rd Conclave which takes up the issue of with an idea to discuss on Terrorism in Bangladesh and its implications for the Indian Border States. The 3rd Tripura Conclave to be held at Agartala on 26th August 3pm at Sukanta Academy.

It is a one-day event begins with an indoor brainstorming session between invited experts / decision-makers, then followed by a public session at 3pm at Sukanta Academy, Agartala. 

Tripura Governor Tathagata Roy consented to deliver the keynote address. India and Bangladesh need to fight this menace together.

According to the sources Bangladesh extremists already set up bases in various cities in Bangaldesh, in addition to Assam's Silchar, Cacher region, Tripura's Sonamura, Belonia. Terrorist leader Al-Hanif also noted that Bangladesh is strategically important due to its proximity to eastern, northeastern India and Myanmar."Bangladeshi nationals and foreign extremists of Bangladeshi descent fighting in Iraq and Syria will provide the Islamic State with skilled bomb makers and operational planners in Bangladesh.

Tripura, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Assam share an 1,880 km border with Bangladesh, while Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh share a 1,640 km unfenced border with Myanmar.

In a recent intelligence report, it has been mentioned that the Sonamura subdivision is becoming the centre for all ISIS intrusions in Tripura, which is increasing the terror among the common public in Tripura. Reportedly, Sonamura subdivision is the epicentre for all illegal activities,drug smuggling to massive ganja cultivations, entire subdivision has become a threat for the safety of people. However, taking the advantage of porous Indo-Bangla border, Bangladesh based HUJI, ISIS, fundamentalist elements are building their bases in Sonamura. Sonamura, Boxnagar areas are known for organized ganja cultivations, drug smugglings, even helping out militant factions like NLFT, ATTF with arms.

Sonamura area has become the corridor for all kinds of mafias and the place has become  a pious-land for extremists.

Islamic fundamentalists are in huge numbers at Sonamura, and spike of cross-border smuggling at all time high.
