AGARTALA, July 30 (TIWN): After India’s independence in 1949 and merger of princely Tripura with India on 15th October, 1949, all successive Central governments led by Congress, CPI-M supported UPA I & II not only deprived Tripura but made sure that Tripura never get any basic necessities like Railway lines. Only during patriotic Narendra Modi’s tenure as Prime Minister of India from April 2014, Northeast India witnessing chain of developments. Tripura’s all important developments from 3rd Internet gateway to Broad gauge Railway to New-Delhi / Agartala Express Trains – all are possible due to Modi’s act east policy even though shameless CPI-M leaders like Manik Sarkar, Manik dey claiming as State’s achievements. Stage is all set to mark the mark the inauguration of the first express train on July 31.Talking to TIWN correspondent, NFR construction official Pratap Singh said that the track is all set to toll the wheels of the first express train. When asked about the preparation for running the train he said that the workers are now busy in checking the technicalities of tracks to avoid any untoward incident. He further said that the there is no major obstruction in running the train; the tracks are set to run the train. The connecting express train between Agartala and Delhi will the cover the entire distance in total 47 hours 50 minutes. The train will leave from Agartala railway station and will drop at Delhi Anand Vihar station and vice versa.

According to Railways source, the train will leave from Delhi Anand Vihar station on Monday night at 11.45pm and will reach Agartala on Wednesday night at 11.55 PM and the entire journey will be covered in 47 hours.

From Delhi the train will leave for Agartala on Every Wednesday and from Agartala it will leave on every Wednesday. Trains first reached Tripura in 1964 when the railway hit the North Tripura town of Dharmanagar. Later it was extended further to Kumarghat. But then it took 40 years to get the railhead to Agartala.

Long sustained tribal insurgency in the state has a lot to do with it. However, the connectivity and transportation in the Tripura got a boost with the special focus to the NE region from Modi’s ‘Look East” policy.

2016 has created a history for Tripura. The broad gauge will help boost our economy and overall development and after years of political mind game the people of Tripura have got their first BG train in the state.

Reportedly, The British took just eight years to lay the metre gauge. But due to politics and lacklustre attitude of Manik ruled state government, it took years to change the metre gauge into Broad-gauge. It is only because of the focus of the central government that today Tripura has made its entry to the railway map of the nation.

Due to the government's lacklustre attitude and the failure of elected representatives, it took years to witness the BG railways service to the state.

All this sped up work is only due to the good initiative of the central government.  After a long period finally the laying and constructing of Broad Gauge (BG) Railway tracks of Mega Block conversion from Badarpur to Agartala has already been completed. Adding another milestone in the history of Tripura, the land-locked state has finally made its entry in the BG Railway map of the country and now in two days Tripura will be connected to Delhi via railway tracks.
