AGARTALA, June 26 (TIWN): Due to State Govt's poor co-ordination with Assam and Centre, there is no possibility to run the express train from Tripura before September as the railway tracks at Halflong town of Assam is damaged which is further obstructing the commencement of the BG train from Tripura. The demand of the train service in the state is going high but there is hardly any chance for the commencement of the express train from Tripura. As the days are passing by the hope for beginning of the BG express train service from Tripura by June now stands as a distant dream for the people of the state. Talking to TIWN correspondent, NFR construction official Pratap Singh said that there is no chance to run BG train from Tripura at least in next two months as the railway tracks in many parts especially in Halflong of Assam is totally damaged. He further said that the damaged tracks are being destroyed and are being uprooted. However, new tracks will be laid after dumping mud which will take around 2 months of time, added Singh.

Commenting over the possibility to run the BG express train from Tripura he further said that there is no chance to run BG train from Tripura in next two months as the connecting tracks in Assam portion is totally damaged and it will take time for the renovation.

Although the authority claims that there are possibilities to run train by the end of this month’s but the latest status of the railway tracks condition shows that there are hardly any chances to toll train by end of Spetember.

A pair of passenger train is continuously rolling its wheel between Silchar and Agartala and these particular trains are expected to run regularly but no initiative to run the express train.

Talking to TIWN correspondent, NFR construction official further said that recently the BG Passenger train is running smoothly but nothing can be said when the express will train begin its journey.  Much speculated BG train services from Agartala will be delayed by at least few months even though rumours have spreaded that BG railway trains to Rajdhani Express will start operation by this month but in reality it is a distant dream.  It is to be mentioned here that due to poor quality works mainly because of substandard materials used during construction platforms in Agartala and Dharmanagar stations have been badly damaged by   the early rains.

It is absolutely clear that Modi Gov't is keen to connect the entire North-East with the rest of India by BG rail link. But unless the public amenities are available in all possible stations especially in Tripura, NFR can't start train services.

However, 2016 has created a history for Tripura. The broad gauge will help boost our economy and overall development and after years of political mind game the people of Tripura have got their first BG train in the state.

Reportedly, The British took just eight years to lay the metre gauge. But due to politics and lacklustre attitude of Manik ruled state government, it took years to change the metre gauge into Broad-gauge. It is only because of the focus of the central government that today Tripura has made its entry to the railway map of the nation but clouds of uncertainty hovers over the commencement of the Express train from Tripura.
