AGARTALA, May 5 (TIWN): State BJP exposed the massive Mid-day-meal corruption held in Tripura and State Education Dept’s direct involvement in it, as during the budget publishing, state sent a vague report of total students to the central Govt. for sanctioning more funds. BJP State spokesman Mrinal Kanti Deb attacked state Gov. by saying that 2010-1015, Tripura Govt. spent 336 crore’s of central funds. However, in the 3rd page of the Annual Work Plan & Budget (AWPB) for 2014-15 Govt. published a wrong report with a vague-maximum number of students under Mid-day-meal scheme. Whereas the number of students were 3,36,400 in the annual report it was shown as 3,44,265 with at least 7856 students more than the actual number of students. Whereas the state Govt. attacks BJP Central Govt. for privatization of Education system, but in reality since 2010, there has been at least 70 % increase of students admission in private schools, rather than Govt. schools due to the poor quality of Education provided by Manik Sarkar’s State Govt.

In total there are 18 % decrease of students admission under Mid-day meal scheme, it was reported.

There are also reports of wastage of food grains in state. Food inspector reportedly didn’t collect 471.233 metric ton of food from the go-downs and there are reports of 42.08 metric ton food grain’s wastage in 71 schools, said BJP.

147 schools has been recorded for irregular supply of mid day meals to students.

BJP also points out few schools in town area as Netaji Subhash Vidyaniketan, Tulsibati and Umakanta School for sending vague reports to the Central with maximum number of students under mid-day-meal, whereas a less number of students in actual takes mid-day-meal there.

Pointing out the various scams held in state BJP slams the ruling Govt. for mid-day-meal and risking children’s lives.   Despite the high amount of money allotted for the midday meal, lower grade had been served to the student which has affected these small ones, said BJP.

Moreover, BJP also traced the issue of insects, dead rats found in mid-day meal various times.

Including other Govt. schools in Agartala there have been floods of mid-day-meal fund and corruption, state BJP exposed Manik Sarkar’s Govt with details via the press meet on Wednesday.
