AGARTALA, May 4 (TIWN): When the so called famous referral GB hospital is hit with various poor health services, it has once again launched the MRI service in the hospital by beating drums. Tripura's lakhs of citizens, who pride themselves on being part of the world’s largest democracy lacks inadequate healthcare infrastructure under Manik Sarkar ruled CPI-M Govt in Tripura. Not enough hospital beds, not enough doctors, not enough medicines and now another drama of MRI service. Question arises do the people of GB hospital have adequate skilled person to conduct t MRI test. How far will it be possible to run the MRI service in the hospital fluently? It is to be mentioned here that for the first time the MRI service has been launched in Tripura at GB Hospital. On Tuesday last Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and Health Minister jointly inaugurated the MRI service at 5pm. Gobind Ballav Pant Hospital (GBP Hospital), which was built on 14th October, 1961 has received the MRI for the first time in its history.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a test that uses a magnetic field, pulses of radio wave energy and a computer system to provide pictures of organs and structures inside the body.

In many cases, an MRI provides information that cannot be obtained from an X-ray, ultrasound or CT scan.

Along with MRI, 30 ambulances were also inaugurated today with central funds.

Presently at Hospital the problem of bed shortage still reels and now for MRI service skilled employees needed.

Most of the health centres in the State are running lack of adequate number of doctors and nurses. Besides, the patients are also suffering from lack of beds and insufficient infrastructure.

Hundreds of patients lay down on the floor just because the hospital lacks bed and some of the poor families are unable to pay for the bed. Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and his Cabinet more focused on building stadiums for political rallies than building Hospitals and in such critical situation how GB hospital will live upto proving MRI facility in the hospital.

In 'golden era' of Manik Sarkar, Tripura patients either have fly out of state for quality treatment or accept the reality of rotting healthcare in last CPI-M ruled state of India.

Frequent power cuts, lack of discipline in running health dept signals that MRI facility might meet the fate of other hi-tech equipment in Health Dept.
