Tripura paying price of having internet illiterate CM & Cabinet Ministers: Internet service functions at snails pace : Agartala remains backward in 'golden era'

AGARTALA, April 29 (TIWN): Unfortunately, Tripura’s key policies & projects are not led by Technocrats or Experts but senior IAS officers who got ZERO knowledge in many fields including High Speed Internet Telecommunications. Chief Secretary Y.P.Singh, Industry Secretary M.Nagaraju lacks working knowledge of Telecommunications so they have no other choice than following BSNL’s excuses for poor internet in State. Tripura’s poor internet service is nothing new as ‘IT illiterate’ Chief Minister Manik Sarkar to IT Minister Tapan Chakraborty remained allergic towards hi-tech developments in State. Neither IT Minister or ‘chamcha’ bureaucrats in State Secretariat have any plans to roll out high speed internet in eight districts, towns, subdivisions of Tripura. A well-connected nation is the first step towards a well-served nation and, hence, connecting rural India will provide the much-needed bridge between urban and rural India.

Even though Agartala was chosen for India’s 3rd Internet Gateway but visionless CPI-M Govt did nothing so far to boost high speed internet across State or inviting IT industries to set up bases. Even though Chief Secretary Y.P. Singh on Thursday held a meeting at secretariat with BSNL General Manager  but it can be expected that Tripura’s fate under lame duck administration unlikely to change in near future.

It is to be mentioned here that , although BSNL high officials claim that it is providing high-speed internet service without any hurdles but the ground reality is that there is no difference in the telecommunication or the internet service in the state.

BSNL also can't be blamed fully as Tripura State Govt failed to provide uninterrupted power and other basic amenities.

The much hyped internet  bandwidth service which was inaugurated with much enthusiasm on March 23 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bangladeshi Premier Sheikh Hasina through Video conferencing is although now providing service from Bangladesh without any hurdles but so far there is no visible development in the service.

According to BSNL high officials there is no problem in getting service. Now question arises if there is no problem in getting service then why there is no development in the service.

State is now getting superfast internet service which is provided through the unspent bandwidth in the neighbouring country’s Cox Bazar from March 23 but Tripura continue to suffer under poor infrastructural set up for making the best utilization of the service.

Even though Agartala is 3rd Internet Gateway of India having 10.2 Gbps high-speed  fiber connectivity via Bangladesh but Tripura Government and BSNL top brass lacks technical expertise to distribute this high speed internet across Tripura.

During Manik Sarkar’s 22 years regime as Chief Minister,  Tripura’s every infrastructure deteriorated to rock bottom whether its daily load-sheddings or  NH-44  or drinking water or poor Internet.

In other words, Tripura people are undergoing non-stop miseries under  the rule of nation’s biggest  thief  where MGNREGA scamsters like Bimal Chakraborty roams free and  honest people suffer from daily load-sheddings, poor internet.
