AGARTALA, Oct 9 (TIWN): Transport Secretary Samarjit Bhowmik’s assumption proven true about the working progress of NH-44 repair, which always dependent upon the weather and semi-hearted District Administration. Samarjit Bhowmik said that the fate of NH-44 depends on the season, and if rain continues then the road gets affected. However, when hited by the criticism of oppositions, Tripura Govt. started the road-renovation work, but as soon as the work started, rain disrupted the work.

Presently the Tripura Govt. puts into problem as it promised to finish the work before Durga Puja, but now it seems impossible.

Reportedly, the new soil which has become mud and dangerous for vehicle movement, has been worsen more than earlier. Due to the continuous rain of 2 days, the situation has been worsen to such an extent and on Thursday the rain has been increased more. As the result the labours are unable to progress the work.

However, Assam Govt. also has no concerns about this detereoting condition, says sources.

It’s to be mentioned that the alternative road NHC is also in bad shape, so, no relief for the common people, as Govt. has failed to bring any permanent solution. The drivers’ woes have no ending. Although Dist. administration of Karimganj is in attempt to finish the work before puja, as earlier they had promised already, but the rain has poured water in their plan to complete patch-work. Now the mud and rainwater has been created a damned condition over there. On the other hand Assam PWD in the renovation work is maintaining a disable role since earlier.

According to the Karimhganj Dist. administration, there is also no fund in actual for the renovation work, but the administration has to bear all the troubles. It’s to be mentioned that funds had been allocated from the centre many times here in Tripura but in due time they didn’t finish the work. During the dry season, the work was to complete, but here in Tripura, Govt. depends upon the weather to make the situation better.

Earlier Samarjit Bhowmik also said, if the road had been done metaling earlier then the State Transport System would not have suffered so much.“But no permanent solution till the wet season is over”, added Bhowmik. Presently his words are proving very true, with the disabled condition of NH-44.
