UDAIPUR / AGARTALA, August 31 (TIWN): Although Tripura CM announced the state to be “Load-shedding-free” since year 2013, but State Govt. has miserbably failed to make it possible till day. However OTPC General Manager Mukul Banarjee declined to say anything against the state govt. and said, “I can not say that govt. is responsible for loadshedding, neither I will blame TSECL, but the cause behind the loadshedding in Tripura is unknown to me”. He further added, “there may be local problems, in supplying power but right now I can not comment anything against the state govt. However,TIWN spoke to other officials of OTPC, who mentioned that “Palatana Produces atleast 550 MW in average, its TSECL’s duty to provide power to the state”, “load shedding has nothing to do with OTPC. He further said that although it’s true that Palatana plant has failed to produce 726 MW but the average of production is from (500-600)MW.“We are not facing any problem with the plant, when 2 Units are running. Our duty is maintenance operation and and to schedule.

After generating production we supply it to grid, then no more it remains on our hands, it’s the TSECL who takes care of it”, said official.Surprisingly state is suffering from non-stop load sheddings, but CM Manik Sarkar kept on promising to supply 100 MW power to Bangladesh.

However, OTPC official (doesn't want to be named) accepted that fact that sometimes the Unit remains shut down, but “whenever it happens OTPC inform the states”, he added.

However, talikng to TIWN, OTPC Plant General Manager Mukul Banaree has declined to say anything against State Govt, said that he can't comment on anything against the govt., he rather blamed raining and other local problems for load-shedding. However, when high officials and govt. are maintaining well their friendship and acting as unknown from the reality, the common people are suffering a lot. Question arises, if production of OTPC is good then other than State Govt  Power Dept / TSECL, who else is responsible ?

It’s to be mentioned when Chief Minister  Manik Sarkar is busy to boast Agartala a smart city, the urban and rural areas of state is being marginalzied from all eassential facilities .

OTPC, was set up with a joint venture company of ONGC, IL&FS Energy Development Co. Ltd. and Govt. of Tripura, with 726.6 MW capacity combined cycle gas turbine based Mega Power Project , with the objective of monetization of gas, which had been lying idle for want of adequate market in the region.

After destroying a huge forest-land at Palatana and Manik Sarkar's endless boasting, Tripura has not seen any progress. Govt. and OTPC both are disagree to accept the fact.
