Agartala, August 31 (TIWN): Following the objectionable comment against the Journalist of the state and terming the newspapers of Tripura as ‘toilet papers’ by Khowai Tripura Civil Service (TCS) officer Pankaj Chakraborty, President of Tripura Newspaper Society (TNS) Subal Kumar Dey in a meeting at Press club on Monday said that this comment is defamatory and has violated the Cyber laws according to Indian Penal Code and Service Code of Conduct.

Dey further said that such offensive statement by Senior District Magistrate of Khowai Pankaj Chakraborty against the newspapers in a popular social networking site ‘Facebook’ is a criminal offense and the society demanded to state government to adopt stringent action against this administrative officer.

Even after Secretary of TNS Pranab Sarkar has filed FIR with the SP of West, and Tripura Journalist union has also made a complaint to Chief Secretary Yash Pal Singh and after proper investigation by District Magistrate the file was transferred by Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Manik Sarkar.

It is alleged that Chief Minister Sarkar has not taken any step against the concerned officer for violating his rules during the time of service.

The TNS has demanded to CM Manik Sarkar to take action against the accused Pankaj Chakraborty for making such derogatory comments or else the society will stage massive movement.

It is alleged that Chakroborty has also posted objectionable comments against the state media organizations just after the issue of FB post against Bengal CM has rocked the entire state.

Reportedly, when the issue of FB post against Mamata Banarjee, posted by Chakroborty was reported in the media, he slammed the newspapers terming them as 'toilet papers' and made some derogatory comments against journalists of the state.

However, the members of the Tripura Newspapers society along with other dignitaries remained present in the program.
