AGARTALA, July 25 (TIWN): With the Tripura Students’ Guardian Forum on a spree legalising private tuition by government teachers, Tripura High Court (HC) is scheduled to hear the plea on August 6. Though the guardians claimed that they are not against the ban of private tuition but the students are bound to go the private tutors as the teachers inducted in government schools are not recruited in merit basis, but they are also in opinion that the quality education in schools has come down due to irregular classes.HC earlier banning the private tuition was in opinion that due to government teachers or teachers already inducted in government or private schools, youths who are not yet inducted in schools or are unable to get teachers’ job are discriminated from their power of guiding the students, said advocate.Whereas the guardians are in opinion that the state education department playing negligence or intentionally had not recruited the teachers on merit basis and as a result the quality education in government schools has come down and never been good as earlier and this has again made the students bound to rush the teachers’ home for better guidance.

The guardians also claimed that the private tuitions had so far offered better guidance to students towards scoring well in the entrance examinations.

However, all those mentioned issued would be raised in the High Court on August 6, said the advocate.

But, one can assume that if the issues like irregular classes, non-merit teachers in government schools, compromise with the quality education are raised in the HC then it is expected to bring another major setback for the state government.

Tripura Students’ Guardian Forum has recently filed an affidavit before the HC seeking continuation of private tuition by government teachers before drawing a conclusion.

They also claimed that the sudden ban on private tuitions would hamper the future of the students as they are already under process of preparing for the board examination and the dependence on private tutors has come up important for the students.

“But we are not against the ban on private tuition in principle, what is a matter of concern is that at this moment we can not stop our wards from going to the private tuition as the board examination is very near whereas the teachers also need to guide our wards towards scoring well in examinations,” claimed the petitioners who had filed an affidavit with the HC recently.

The court also served notices to 15 principals of private schools where teachers were allegedly engaged in private tuition seeking their replies by July 31 next. Despite having a ban on private tuition by government school teachers, there is no visible action against any violator.

Besides, it has also been learnt that just after the HC had passed the order a section of teachers had stopped the private practises. Interestingly the guardians’ body in view of the ban of private tuition claimed that the state government had failed to provide a better infrastructures in schools at many parts of the state, as a result the quality education has got ruined at present.
