AGARTALA, July 23 (TIWN): Tripura High Court on Wednesday rejected the bail plea of Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) accused scamster Ambalika Duitta. The senior Tripura education department woman official filed the petition with the court earlier in view of getting rid from jail custody, but the police managed to take her under the custody despite all odds.Talking to TIWN in this regard a senior police officer said that the court on Wednesday hearing the police accepted their demand to put accused scamster Ambalika at jail custody.Police said, “We somehow managed today to take Amabalika under custody after the court permitted us to carry the investigation putting her in jail custody.†Adding to that the police also said that under several ground especially under the medical ground Ambalika got a chance to get her bail plea accepted by the court.High Court is scheduled to hear Ambalika’s bail plea again on July 29. But, according to the senior police official court might accept Amablika’s bail plea on next Wednesday.Ambalika Datta, Deputy Director education department and in-charge of Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA), was arrested on July 14.
Additional District and Session Court have sent the senior Tripura education department woman official Amablika Dutta for 14 days jail custody on Tuesday for allegedly embezzling more than Rs. 4 crore from a central government scheme. Ambalika who was arrested on July 14 managed to stay safe at hospital till today simply in the name of illness and stomach pain whereas the attending doctors had prepared on Saturday to release her.
Ambalika was discharged on Tuesday from the IGM Hospital at around 1:30 pm and later police produced her before the court, said senior police officer. Ambalika would be produced before the court again on August 3.
Since from the very beginning when Ambalika was arrested she apparently moved forward to find easy escape from the police custody. The police officer told TIWN that earlier she had a gynaecological problem and taking an advantage of this Ambalika managed to remain in hospital. The state government had lodged an FIR in the multi-crore scam against several officials.
According to the official Education Department Additional Director Dilip Kumar Debbarma was suspended earlier from service for their reported involvement in the multi-crore scam. Both Datta and Debbarma were also involved in issuing an order to purchase books written by Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and former chief secretary Sanjay Kumar Panda, now the secretary of the union textiles ministry.
The order, which was issued without taking permission from the appropriate authority, had asked the district education department officials to purchase the two books out of the annual grant provided to 839 schools by RMSA during the 2013-14 fiscal.
