AGARTALA, July 13 (TIWN): When the prices of essential commodities are sky rocketing, the common people, especially the state Govt. employees have no option but to expect some surcharge in their salaries to fulfill their expenditure. The state Govt. employees, who are deprived of their due DA for long are demanding for the hike in dearness allowance but so far drew blank as the CPI-M Govt. headed by Manik Sarkar did not find them potential enough to create any impact in the vote results. But the situation has changed ever since the BJP Govt. was formed at the centre and the party brought out some effective plan to woo the common people of the state which in fact won the hearts of many in the state. The Act East policy adopted by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has in fact worked and the people of the region, especially the people of the state are expecting developments in the region. The speed in which the conversion of railway tracks from meter gauge to broad gauge is taking place in the Lumding- Agartala route, and the extension of railway connectivity up to Sabroom is encouraged by the people.

Improvement of friendly relation between India and Bangladesh was evidenced from the fact that the much desired direct bus service from Agartala to Kolkata via Dhaka and Guwahati to Dhaka via Shillong was started.

The opening of more and more border huts in Tripura and Meghalaya with Bangladesh was another step in building the confidence in the minds of the people.

Rejection of the Congress party as the main opposition of the CPI-M was seen in the last TTAADC election as well as the by-polls in the two assembly constituencies of the state. The people imposed their confidence more on the BJP than the leaderless and chaotic Congress giving much headache to the ruling CPI-M.

The recent attack on RSS ‘pracharaks’ at Nalchar allegedly at the behest of MLA Tapan Chandra Das and the full utilization of the incident by the Sangha here in the state by organizing mass rally and demanding action from the DGP and the chief minister Manik Sarkar further increased the faith of the common masses on the BJP as the alternate political force to replace the corrupt CPI-M in the state.

Acceptance of the BJP among the masses is taken seriously by the CPI-M party   think tanks here at the Melarmath party office. The party knows it well that it is the BJP only which can give them a tough challenge and the fact is well read and  grasped by  the educated class of the society a major share of which comes from the state Govt. employees.

Though late, the state Govt. led by Manik Sarkar has realized the urgency of taming the deprived state Govt. employees and the increase in DA of the employees to contend them is on the card and the coming Tuesday may see the hike in DA of the state Govt. employees feel the political analysts here.   The Manik Sarkar Govt. earlier had promised to lower down the gap between the central Govt. and state Govt. employees with regard to DA and the present difference of 44% DA is expected to be reduced by 15-20% in the next cabinet meeting scheduled to be held on Tuesday, the 14th July, 2015. At present the central Govt. employees are enjoying 113% DA in comparison to the 69% DA of the state Govt. employees.
