DM west launches the district level program of “Digital India week” on Monday

AGARTALA, July 6 (TIWN): On yet another moment of pride for the state, DM west Dr. Millind Ramteke on Monday morning launched the maiden program of district level ‘Digital India Week’ in the conference hall of DM office. The programme comprises of various initiatives, each targeted to prepare India for becoming a knowledge-economy and for bringing good governance to citizens through synchronized and co-ordinate engagement of the entire government. Speaking on the launch program of the Digital India week the dignitaries said that this is an initiative of Government of India to integrate the governmental departments and the people of India with the aims to ensuring that the government services are made available to citizens electronically by reducing paperwork. “The new initiative of the Digital India Concept which has been formally launched by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on July 01 also includes plan to connect rural areas with high speed internet networks and has three core components which includes a) the Creation of Digital Infrastructures b) Delivering Services Digitally c) Digital Literacy, he added. The project is envisaged to be completed by 2019. A two way platform will be created where both the service providers and the consumers stand to benefit.

The Digital India programme aims to provide broadband highways, universal access to mobile connectivity, public internet to access programme, e-governance: Reforming government through technology, eKranti - Electronic delivery of services, Information for all, Electronics manufacturing: Target net zero imports, IT for jobs and early harvest programmes.

In line with these objectives, Digital India program in Tripura will facilitate several initiatives as such,

Digital infrastructure promotes data sharing and consumption. Similarly to other infrastructures, it is a structure needed for the operation of a society as well as the services and facilities necessary for an economy to function, the data economy in this case.

 Digital India and E-Governance initiative in Tripura allow the application of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for delivering government services, exchange of information communication transactions, integration of various stand-alone systems and services from the Government to its customers, businesses, other governments, and also management of the entire back office process and interactions within the government system.

Telemedicine centers, 17 sub divisional hospitals are connected with AGMC hospital for providing better medical aid to the people. Telemedicine aims to provide the best medical care to the remote corners of Tripura to the people who cannot afford the treatment due to their inability to travel, cost, unawareness etc.

With the initiative of E-district all the governmental schemes are being facilitated to the people for their instant access to the schemes.

Along with the West District, Digital India Week is also observed at Gomati district in Udaipur Rajeshwari kalakshetra on Monday in presence of DM Sonal Goel.

Digital India, a flagship programme of the Government of India, aims to “transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy”. The focus is on being transformative to realize IT (Indian Talent) + IT (Information Technology) = IT (India Tomorrow). The vision of Digital India programme aims at inclusive growth in areas of electronic services, products, manufacturing and job opportunities, said DM Sonal Goel in the launch program of Digital India week.

A power point presentation was also shown to people discussing the facilities to be provided by the initiative of Digital India Week.

However, the stage is all set to inaugurate the state level program of “Digital India Week” on Tuesday.
