AGARTALA, May 27 (TIWN): Afraid of new Governor Tathagata Roy’s potentiality to swing the common masses towards his charismatic character, country’s only Left Front ruled state’s Chief Minister does not want to take any chance in testing the Governor. The CPI-M’s Melarmath thinktank did not feel it necessary to make the Governor’s presence felt in the foundation stone laying programme of the State’s first ever flyover in the capital city. The foundation stone laying programme of the much talked about fly over will take place on Wednesday in presence of the chief minister and a host of other powerful personalities of the state, keeping the Governor at bay. Though the invitation to attend the foundation stone laying programme was issued by the state Govt.’s PWD Dept., it is worth less to mention that the blue print of the programme was chalked out by the CPI-M’s Melarmath think tank. The state Govt.’s intention of keeping the Governor out of focus is a step aimed at making the Governor stay away from the common masses, feel the political analysts here.It may be mentioned here that the Fly over from Dropegate area of the city to Fireservice area will be of immense help to the jammed traffic of the city. Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, Ministers Manik Dey, Badal Chowdhury, AMC Chairperson Prafullajit Sinha, Nagarjuna Construction Company officials were present in Tripura's 1st Flyover construction foundation laying ceremony.

The fact that the Governor was restricted to his bunglow only in the last one week, ever since his assuming charge as the Governor of the state, indicates at the Manik Sarkar and company’s intension to keep the Governor out of public attention.
It may be mentioned here that the State Government did not invite the opposition leader and local MLA Sudip Roy Barman in the inauguration programme of a water treatment plant that took place four days back at the Governor palace area in Agartala.
“The manner in which the state Govt. led by Manik Sarkar is demeaning the presence of the opposition leaders and even the constitutional head of the state, only shows the narrow minded attitude of the ruling CPI-M led Govt.”, opines a political analyst here.
Meanwhile, the declaration of poll dates for the by poll in two assembly constituencies of 14 Pratapgarh and 49 Surma assembly constituencies which are going to poll on June 27,has put the presence of the elected members of state Govt. in question as in the normal case, no public representatives are authorised to attend any Govt. function or programs. The dates for the by polls were declared on Tuesday by the Election Commission alongwith other parts of the country.
