AGARTALA, March 31 (TIWN): Finally as the last State in country to implement 6th Pay commission recommendations, Tripura Cabinet today in the context of partial acceptance of the 6th Finance Commission recommendations by the central govt, has taken a calculated decision in the interest of the state govt. employees and pensioners to provide some specific pending benefits to its employees and pensioners. Talking to the reporters here at the civil secretariat Chief Minister Manik Sarkar today announced that the Govt has today decided to to allow modified revised pay structure including modified revised Pay Band and Grade Pay to its employees equivalent to 6th Central Pay Scale recommendations except DA (dearness allowance). Taking into account other unresolved issues, the state govt. in its cabinet meeting today has decided to provide the benefit for the purpose of fixation of pay notionally by allowing 3% annual increment with effect from January 1, 2006 and financial benefit from April 1, 2015. Due to continued unrest and protest inside CPM party and it affiliated organizations over lowest pay scales of Tripura Govt employees in country, finally Chief Minister Manik Sarkar announced this meagre pay rise to pacify 161000 employees of State Govt.

CM Manik Sarkar today said that the state govt. has also decided to revise the remuneration of Fixed Pay employees of both Group-C and D category as a consequence of the modification of revised of pay structure. However CM also informed that similar benefit shall also be extended to the employees of the Public Sector Undertakings, Autonomous Bodies and Local Bodies of the state government. Wage rates of those workers under the state govt.  and its undertakings who get benefit at the time of declaring DA each time are also being revised today by increasing the existing wage rates by 10% in respect of each category.

During the year 2015-16, the expenditure to be incurred for these purposes is likely to be around Rs. 338.75 crores, said CM today. highlighting the tentative requirement of fund for next five years Chief Minister said that during the FY 2015-16 the state would require Rs. 338.75 Crore, during FY 2016-17 the state would require Rs. 406.50 crore, for FY 2017-18 – Rs. 487.80 crore, FY 2018-19 – Rs. 560.97 crore and during the FY 2019-20 – Rs. 645.12 crore.

However announcing this to the reporters today Chief Minister said that in view of the pay structure of the state govt. employees with that of the central govt., there has been a long standing demand of the state govt. employees for giving them equivalent pay and pension structure as recommended by the 6th Central Pay Scale (CPC). “So far such benefit could not be given by the state govt. here due to the limited financial resources,” Manik Sarkar said.
