KHOWAI, March 27 (TIWN): Wire fencing along the Indo-Bangla border at Khowai Vidyabil under Champahaor Police Station was seen cut on Thrusday ahead of the Tripura Tribal Areas & Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) election. One NLFT militant named as Pakhi Debbarma and another Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) leader were allegedly found to be involved with it. However, most surprisingly the wire fence along the bordering areas of Khowai remained cut since three days from March 24. Besides, talking to the Champahaor PS Officer-in-charge Shyamal Debbarma, TIWN informed about the wire-fence cut but OC said, “I do not know if anyone has transported through the route, I am not aware of it”. While the BSF’s daily patrolling across the bordering area has now come under scanner with such incidents that occurred just ahead of the ADC election drawing near.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, i.e. on March 24 after one local lady Shabita Das (name changed) from the mentioned area witnessed at least 5 tribal youths along the bordering area under the Champahaor Police Station during the noon hour. She also witnessed one famous NLFT militant Pakhi Tripura (nick name) and another IPFT leader at the incident spot on the very day. According to the lady after the IPFT leader had come to the spot with his motor cycle, 2 out of the 5 tribal youths went away with the IPFT leader.

The IPFT leader along with the 2 others  passed through the BSF 83rd battalion camp at Koringacherra and later reaching at Behalabari under Khowai sub division went missing.

However, but most surprisingly the tribals on a winter wear witnessed to have carried some weapons along with them. But the incident has now triggered a huge resentment along the Indo-Bangla bordering areas of Tripura as such an incident had occurred first of its kind and that too ahead of the TTAADC election drawing near. While on the other hand, when the fencing at the mentioned area has remained cut since three consecutive days, the concerned BSF Jawans could take the matter on their focus today. And this has now raised a serious question over the daily patrolling of the BSF jawans at the bordering areas of the state.

It is worthy to be mentioned here that as the ADC election is drawing near here at the state, the tribal based political party IPFT’s link with the banned militant outfits here has brought a big headache to the election as well as for the concerned administration and the local residents. Besides it is also mentionable here that even after the passage of the three days since the wire fencing remained cut and no necessary steps has been taken yet by the police as well as by the BSF jawans, a section of armed militants from the banned National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) taking an advantage of it might have been already entered the state through the bordering area ahead of TTAADC poll to revive themselves and disrupt the elections.

However, but such an incident ahead of the ADC election has of course triggered a terror among the local villagers now with the sliced wire fencing along the bordering area has brought an advantage and opportunities for the arm smugglers and the NLFT camped militants in Bangladesh to make an easy entrance to the state. However, the police also informed that they are investigating the case and has been conducting operations to trace the involved tribal youths.
