The deceased have been identified as Sajad Ali (driver and owner of the car) from Bhagabannagar area, Aktar Ali, Banbir Shodkar, and TSR personnel Milan Debbarma from Khowai district. According to eyewitnesses, the police vehicle had a punctured tire, and TSR personnel were replacing it when the Innova car struck Milan Debbarma and then crashed into the police vehicle.

 

The injured were rushed to Unakoti district hospital, where doctors declared them dead. The accident has cast a pall of gloom over the area, with locals questioning the high speed of the car at such a late hour and demanding an investigation into possible involvement in illicit activities.
