AGARTALA, Sep 23 (TIWN): During Tripura Congress’s protest against law and order deterioration that was organized in Agartala, Congress MLA Sudip Barman was asked regarding the vacating order that was issued to him recently, asking him to leave the MLA quarter where he has been living with his family for decades. The MLA said, “I have no issue with this order. I called a thief a thief. I called a dacoit a dacoit."
"Don’t I have the right to say that? Do I need to stay silent and keep watching? They are looting the people’s money and law and order is deteriorating every day," he said.
Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma’s MLA post has been put at risk by the Congress party after he was found faking ECI documentation in financial assets. Congress met Governor Indra Sena Nallu in this regard and also demanded action from ECI. Bikash Debbarma bought multiple houses and gained property in the last one and half years of being a Minister, though in his election affidavit, he claimed he and his wife have “ZERO-INCOME” and “ZERO LIABILITIES”. BJP Govt yet to deliver any comment on this issue. Bikash Debbarma, who is Tribal Welfare Minister was also found engaged in massive corruption like using Tribal Welfare Dept funds for his boundary wall construction. Congress MLA Sudip Barman raised the question in the Assembly, how can a person gain that much wealth within such a short period? After that, Bikash Debbarma called a press meeting and said, he is always very wealthy and an inheritor of Zameendar. After that Congress asked, why the Minister said something else in the affidavit. Then instead of reacting to the allegations, BJP Govt started sending notices about MLA Quarter vacating to Congress MLA Sudip Barman.
Reacting to this Sudip Barman today said, he just called a person thief, who is a thief.
Congress on Monday organized the protest voicing against the increasing rapes, gangrapes, murders, attacks and violence in the state. Along with these issues, increasing drug addiction is another issue that Congress raised. Congress leaders walked the rally including All India Congress Committee (AICC) Secretary Christopher Tilak, Congress state president Asish Saha, Congress MLA Sudip Barman, and MLA Gopal Roy.
