AGARTALA, Aug 27 (TIWN): The devastating flood in Tripura damaged thousands of houses beyond repair and some turned unliveable. In this condition, government camps are still open across the state. Revenue department officials in a press meet told media that 492 relief camps are still open in various parts of the state. The flood situation is right now in Tripura under control with the rain stopped since August 25, the officials at press meet further informed.
However, revenue department in the press meet informed media that Sonamura area still remains critical as the water level is running yet high.
Total 492 relief camps are still active in the state.

11 river embankments have been badly damaged in massive flood that hit Tripura recently.
Addressing media, Kiran Gitte, IAS, said, all the rivers’ embankments need urgent repairing as they were badly damaged.
“If the river banks are not fixed immediately, then it may turn worse,” said Kiran Gitte.
The officer also stressed upon the health issues, saying, there will be sufficient numbers of health camps will be organized.
“We have whole year’s medicine stocks and there is nothing to worry about it,” said Gitte as the state is focussing to detect if there is any water-born and other kinds of diseases’ spread in the state.
