AGARTALA, Oct 2 (TIWN): Tripura Congress has accused BJP Govt’s State Power Dept for being involved in massive corruptions. It can be mentioned here that BJP Govt in a hurried-operation handed over power dept to privatized TSECL which has now raised the doubts further. On the other hand, CPI-M claimed that in 2018, the State Power Dept had at least Rs. 450 crores of funds whereas the present BJP Govt has refused to get any such fund. Congress demanded a probe into the entire matter as recently, Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath alleged that power dept was running under losses, when the same Minister was claiming, Tripura is selling power to outside and now power surplus. Before Ratan Lal Nath, it was Former Minister Jishnu Debbarman who was holding the Ministry.
“Stop looting People with Electricity charges when the state is considered power-surplus”, Congress on Sunday slammed BJP led State Govt over excessive electricity bills imposed on the common men amid the state has power surplus and alleged corruption caused losses to the Dept.
Addressing a press meet Congress State President Asish Saha said, “In comparison to other states Tripura’s electricity charges are too high. When other states have decreased the tariff for electricity, to give relief to the people, here the Govt is doing just the opposite. This is a gift to the people of Tripura ahead of Durga puja. We condemn the move of the Govt to raise electricity changes that are affecting the consumers directly”.
“Today this Govt is forcing the people to pay too high bills, the service is just worst! Even after being power surplus, how can the Power Dept undergo losses, and now due to the losses, the common men are burdened with high electricity bills? It proves massive scams took place in the last 5.6 years under the BJP Govt. A proper investigation should be conducted”, said Asish Saha.
Congress also raised questions over the increased property of the Ministers and
