AGARTALA, June 26 (TIWN): Tripura Congress’s Agartala-6 winner candidate Sudip Roy Barman slammed BJP over post poll violence, attack on Congress Bhawan saying, “The party BJP should be ashamed as it can not accept defeat. In various places violence is going on from Bitarban to Abhay Nagar. BJP has insulted the mandates of the people”. The statement came after BJP held an unprovoked attack on Congress Bhawan after it lost Agartala-6 by-poll. A Congress party worker was stabbed and Congress President Birjit Sinha was attacked with a stick. The stabbed youth’s condition is critical as he was injured in his kidney. Barman also mentioned, today’s attacker group belongs to former CM Biplab Deb’s group and it may be an intrigue to malign the image of the winner CM Manik Saha.

Barman requested the new CM to take strict action against such hooliganism of the BJP party; otherwise there will be no difference between the sacked CM and him.

“Now a days it has become very easy for BJP to attack anyone, anywhere. They roam with pistols and knives. Today we were inside the Congress Bhawan, suddenly BJP’s bike gang gathered in front of Congress Bhawan and then started threatening the Congress workers and suddenly, one Congress member was attacked with a knife”, said Barman.

“Police OC of West PS Subrata Chakraborty asked us to stay inside the Congress Bhawan and they will control the situation. But it was seen that Police did nothing to control the situation. The same persons who entered newspaper offices, party offices and vandalized, today have repeated the same crime, because Police never took action against them”, said Sudip Barman.
