AGARTALA, June 23 (TIWN): After by-poll was completed in four constituencies of Tripura, opposition CPI-M State Secretary has thanked Election Commission for its best efforts to organize a free and fair poll. “Though a section of honest officers in Election Dept attempted their best to stop rigging but Police top-layers and also SP, SDOP did not cooperate in all areas. But voters’ spirit must be saluted. The way old people were attacked but still they went to cast votes and took multiple attempts, these, 80+ citizens taught lessons to Corrupt Officers who failed to do their duties”, said Jitendra Chowdhury. The CPI-M State Secretary also said, Election Dept officials did their best jobs at Jubaraj Nagar, though in Surma a section of police did not cooperate.

Addressing media further at Melarmath party office, Chowdhury thanked voters, media, paramilitary forces, election commission and all polling personnel for fighting for democracy.

Talking about Agartala rigging, Jitendra Chowdhury slammed a section of police officials including top-layers for not cooperating with the Election Commission.

He also demanded CM Manik Saha to step down from post as he failed to keep his promise to conduct free and fair poll.
